Biography
Tom Kundig, FAIA, RIBA, has spent over four decades crafting award-winning architecture across six continents. He became a principal and owner of Olson Kundig in 1996, developing a distinctive approach driven by curiosity in the interaction between people and their environments. His portfolio spans adaptive reuse developments, hospitality destinations, museums, wineries, sports facilities, and private homes. Kundig's work is characterized by elemental experimentation, kinetic design elements, and contextual responsiveness. He has received over 230 individual and project awards, including a National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, an Academy Award in Architecture from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the AIA Seattle Gold Medal. His monographs, including Tom Kundig: Houses and Tom Kundig: Houses 2, are Princeton Architectural Press's best-selling architecture books of all time.
