Ricardo Álvarez-Díaz

Ricardo Álvarez-Díaz, FAIA, is co-founder, Director of Design, and Chairman of Álvarez-Díaz & Villalón, a top-150 U.S. architecture and interior design firm with studios in San Juan, Miami, New York, and Chicago. Elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2022, he began his career in the New York office of Robert A.M. Stern, studied architecture at Notre Dame, and completed finance and real estate studies at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. He is Adjunct Professor at Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business, teaching Real Estate Development, Affordable Housing, and Placemaking, and Co-Owner of Valora Ventures, a Latin America-focused developer of affordable housing and hospitality projects. A past president of the Puerto Rico Builders Association and a Governor of the Urban Land Institute, he has grown the firm into one of the largest minority-owned architecture firms in the U.S.
