Biography
A. Eugene (Gene) Kohn founded KPF in 1976 alongside William Pedersen and Sheldon Fox, serving as the firm's original President and developing its global strategy. Under his leadership, KPF became a world leader in architectural practice and the youngest firm to receive the AIA's Architecture Firm Award. Over his sixty-year career, Gene earned numerous prestigious honors including The National Building Museum Chairman's Award, the Kanter Tritsch Medal for Excellence in Architecture and Environmental Design, and the ULI Life Trustee designation, the first architect to receive this honor. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and former president of AIA New York City Chapter, Gene was registered in 26 states and served as an Executive Fellow at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. He taught at Harvard Business School for over ten years and served as a trustee and overseer for multiple institutions including the University of Pennsylvania and the National Building Museum.
