Biography
Ellen Mitchell Kozack, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, is a Principal and Director of Sustainability and Applied Research at LPA, Inc., where she leads the firm's sustainability research team and develops actionable strategies to support informed, high-performance design. A licensed architect with extensive experience in sustainable building practices, she has overseen more than $4 billion worth of construction through LEED and other third-party certifications. Prior to joining LPA, Ellen served as Chief Sustainability Officer at LEO A DALY and spent over twelve years at HKS, where she held roles including Director of Sustainability and founder of Citizen HKS, the firm's public interest design initiative. She holds a Master of Architecture from The University of Texas at Arlington and studied architecture at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona. A champion of environmental advocacy and public interest design, Ellen volunteers with the AIA National Committee on the Environment (COTE) Leadership Group and serves on the board of the Dallas Center for Architecture Foundation.
