Biography
Ambassador Richard Nelson Swett, FAIA, is an American architect, politician, and diplomat. He served as U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district (1991-1995) and as U.S. Ambassador to Denmark (1998-2001). Swett earned a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Yale University in 1979 and is a licensed architect in California and New Hampshire. His business experience encompasses architectural design, corporate management, project development, and finance. He served as Managing Principal of the Washington, D.C. office for Leo A. Daly, one of the largest architecture and engineering firms in the U.S. Swett is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Senior Fellow and Executive Board member of the Design Futures Council.
